Wood & sawmill technology
Reducer band saw technology
Modular combination of reducer units and band saws – powerful in breakdown, flexible for future expansion.
Partner EWD
01Performance
What it does.
High capacity
Continuous breakdown without a return stroke – designed for large volumes.
Chips included
The reducers produce chips directly in the process – a raw material for pulp, panels or energy.
Modular design
Units can be added in stages as capacity or the product range grows.
Precise guidance
Centred infeed and profiling ensure dimensionally accurate products.

04Engineering
Machine types & parameters.
Typical machine types
- 01
Chipper-canters
Chip the log contour into flat faces, producing chips in the process.
- 02
Twin & quad band saws
Cut side boards and main products in a single pass.
- 03
Centring & infeed systems
Align the log optimally before the first cut.
- 04
Re-sawing units
Further divide the main product, often combined with circular saws.

Since 1862
Sawmill technology from a single source – rooted in Esterer (since 1862) and Wurster + Dietz (since 1867).
The machine technology typically comes from EWD. Vecotrade plans the plant, integrates the machines into your material flow, installs, commissions and remains your point of contact.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
01Which mills benefit from a reducer line?
Above all for mills with high throughput and a log spectrum that can be sorted well. With strongly varying diameters or a lot of valuable timber, a log band saw may be the better choice.
02Can the line be extended later?
That is one of the advantages of the modular design: units can be added step by step. We plan space and material flow so that later expansion remains possible.
03What happens to the chips?
They are removed by conveyors and – depending on the location – supplied to panel or pulp mills or used for energy. We plan the conveying equipment for this as well.
