01Performance

What it does.

Shredding determines what the rest of the line can achieve: particle size and shape decide how well the material can be screened, separated, conveyed and used. We choose the size-reduction principle according to material, contaminant content and target fraction – and plan infeed and discharge along with it.

Target size, not chance

Screen basket, rotor geometry and cutting tools are matched to the fraction the next process step needs.

Robust against contaminants

Waste wood and refuse contain metal and stones. Overload protection, tool selection and maintenance access are designed for it.

Single or two-stage

Separating coarse pre-shredding from fine secondary shredding relieves both machines and stabilises quality.

Evenly fed

Hoppers, rams and infeed conveyors keep the machine at a constant load – easier on tools and drive.

Part of the line

We plan discharge conveyors, metal separation and screening alongside, so the shredder never becomes the bottleneck.

Typical machine types

  1. 01

    Single-shaft shredders

    Rotor with knives against counter-knives, particle size limited by a screen basket – versatile for wood, plastics, films and paper.

  2. 02

    Multi-shaft shredders

    Slow-running, counter-rotating cutting shafts for bulky, contaminated material, often used for primary shredding.

  3. 03

    Drum chippers

    Produce wood chips from logs, residual wood and slabs – typical for biomass and sawmill residues.

  4. 04

    Secondary shredders & granulators

    For fine, uniform fractions, for example in RDF/SRF production or plastics recycling.

01Single or multi-shaft shredder – which fits?

It depends on the material and the goal. Single-shaft shredders with a screen basket deliver a defined particle size; multi-shaft shredders excel at primary shredding of bulky, contaminated material. A combination of both is often the most economical solution.

02What do you need for a first assessment?

A description of the material (type, piece size, contaminants, moisture), the target fraction, the planned quantity per hour or shift and photos of the site. With that we outline a suitable concept; the detailed design follows per project.

03What experience does Vecotrade have with shredders?

Shredding runs through our project history – from a pallet shredder with HiTorc® drive (2010) and drum chippers in sawmills (2018, 2019) to the first machines of Vecoplan's VIZ generation (2021). You will find examples further down under 'From our projects'.
