Wood & sawmill

Woodfrom log to chip.

In a sawmill, material flow decides the yield: log yard, breakdown, edging, sorting – and the use of every residue. We plan the mill as a whole, from a single machine to the complete line.

02Challenges

What this material demands of the technology.

01

Varying diameters

No two logs are alike. Infeed and breakdown must cope with changing diameters, lengths and sweep – without losing the cycle.

02

Yield & cutting pattern

Every millimetre counts. The choice between log band saw, reducer and frame saw determines how much sawn timber a log yields.

03

Cycle & buffers

Log yard, saw and sorting work at different rhythms. Buffers and cross conveyors keep the line moving.

04

Residues

Slabs, offcuts, shavings and bark always occur. Shredded and conveyed properly, they become fuel or raw material.

Typical input material

  • 01Round logs – softwood and hardwood
  • 02Short and long logs
  • 03Sawn timber and lamellas
  • 04Slabs, offcuts and bark

Typical goals

  • →Sawn timber to size – sorted and packaged
  • →Lamellas for glulam
  • →Chips and shavings for further use
  • →A continuous material flow through the whole mill

05FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01Do you also plan single machines or conversions?

Yes. Many projects start with a single saw, a cross conveyor or a conversion in a running mill. We plan so that later expansion stages connect cleanly.

02Log band saw, reducer or frame saw – which fits?

It depends on the diameter range, species, capacity and cutting programme. We compare the options based on your logs and your products.

03Can existing machines be integrated?

Yes. Existing plant sections and inspected used machines can be integrated – including the CE assessment of the modified overall plant.
